Scanne

Familiar pop
Sparks in darkness
Through sleep-sticky eyes
Patterns test patience

From reclining
Switch from last
Night's viewership to
Years past and lives ago

Lights burst
On the marquee
What it says to me is
Nothing less than saviorhood

To see the primordial
To see how we got
Lost along the way
And through that found a place

A homeland where
To fill in all the blanks
Communion by proxy
We take up pens and keystrokes

Author's Comments

One of two finished pieces in a (maybe no longer) planned series of 20 poems which, taken as a whole, document a typical Saturday in my childhood.
